The Presenters
ASAI's 2005 educational program continues on Friday with a series
of programs designed for illustrators, architects and anyone
interested in seeing scores of some of the greatest architectural
drawings in American collections.
Our discussions of architectural visualization begin at the
Library of Congress, move northwest across the National Mall to the
National Gallery and the National Building Museum (U.S. Commission
of Fine Arts) and then back to the Library for a special anniversary
reception sponsored by the Prints & Photographs Division. These
program events are not to be missed. Invited guest speakers include:
William C. Allen is the Historian of the U.S. Capitol in the office of the Architect of the Capitol.
His book, History of the United States Capitol; a Chronicle of Design, Construction, and Politics (2001) is a seminal book and a detailed and fascinating history of the building.
Mark Burlinson is the President and co-founding partner of Interface Multimedia and Webarchives LLC, and received his MArch from the University of Maryland. IFMM has won numerous awards from ASAI (including this year's Ford Peatross Juror Award), AIA, and the International Television Association. Webarchives won a national award for it's digital asset management software iDAM. Find out

Frank Costantino, ASAI, JARA, co-founder of ASAI, award-winning architectural illustrator and painter, and renowned lecturer, Frank will advocate for our profession on the esteemed panel on copyright protection to be held at the Library's Mary Pickford Theater in the Madison Building. This topic is still smouldering after all these years; find out why. www.fmcostantino.com
Maygene Daniels, Chief of the National Gallery Archives, Maygene Daniels will guide our group through
an archive of original drawings by Otto Eggers. Eggers (his watercolor graces our 2005 ASAI poster) was a partner of John Russell Pope. His many magnificent drawings visualized the Gallery's West Wing during the 30s, and he completed the project upon Pope's death in 1939. The design process often began in the Pope office
with an Eggers perspective, from which proportion and detail emerged. This event runs in accord with P.S.
Oles's event. This program is limited to two groups of twenty. www.nga.gov
Brad Holland, One of the truly innovative illustrators of the last thirty-five years, Brad has been credited with the conceptualization of magazine illustration. His simple and poetic style is
instantly recognizable. Winner of two Gold Medals from the Society of Illustrators, among numerous other awards, he will join our copyright discussion as an avid and active spokesman for the industry. The panel will be held at the Library's Mary Pickford Theater in the Madison Building. www.bradholland.net
Lonnie Hovey, is the Director of Preservation, Architecture and Construction for the Executive Branch
(White House). Lonnie will speak to our sketch group about the treasures of Lafayette Square and the President's Park, which include the Decatur House, Blair House, and St. John's Church.

is involved in all aspects of domestic copyright law. Rob also teaches an advanced seminar on copyright law and policy at the Washington College of Law at American University. insight. This event runs in accord with Ms. Maygene Daniels's event. This program is limited to two groups of twenty. www.psoles.com
